Resolution Health Medical Scheme is one of the smaller, but still growing, medical aid schemes available to South Africans and the company makes very clear that its primary mission is to provide affordable healthcare options that best their competition in financial terms but match them in terms of benefits offered. But how well is the company living up to those goals so far in its relatively brief history?
Resolution Health Basic Plans
Resolution Health currently offer six basic plan options that are designed to fit most, if not all, possible subscriber needs both in terms of cost and coverage. The lowest level hospital plans offer the basic benefits one would expect from such a plan as well as access to the Zurreal Rewards Programme (more about that in a minute)
Plans go up in both cost and coverage options from there and there is, with the midrange Progressive Flex Option the chance to mix and match non hospital coverages to better suit an individual's needs. What is also convenient is that these options can be changed several times during the year should the member wish to do so.
Comparing plans to one another is not quite the intuitive process it is with some other medical aid policies so browsers should be prepared to do more than a little bit of close reading or opt right away to enter a 'live chat guidance' session with a broker.
Resolution Health have partnered with lifestyle brand Zurreal to offer an extensive rewards programme to all members. Basic membership is free to all, offers discounts and savings at a number of national retailers and optional access to the Zurreal Healthcard, a prepaid debit card that can be used to budget for non-covered medical expenses while also earning additional 'reward points' when used.
Foe an additional fee members can 'upgrade' their membership to the Zurreal One Program which offers rewards for basic healthy practices; for example you can earn up to R8 500 per annum for attending a Virgin Active or Planet Fitness Gym just 12 times a month or a R6 900 for keeping up with basic wellness checks. Reward funds are then paid onto the Zurreal Healthcard for use as the member sees fit.
Patient claims can be submitted online via their personal Zurreal portal or mailed in via traditional post. Patients can also monitor the progress of their claim online and have several options for fund dispersement that can be changed at any time.
