Momentum Medical Aid
The Momentum Medical Aid plans are offered by a company that has actually been around since 1966, although they have gone through several different acquisitions and name changes in that time. They are currently the fourth largest provider of medical aid plans in South Africa with a little over 90,000 active subscribers. As an older company Momentum has the stability consumers are always advised to look for when choosing a medical aid plan but how do their innovations stack up against 'younger' companies.
Basic Medical Aid Options
In terms of standard medical aid coverage plans Momentum currently offer five standardized options as well as a 'custom option' that essentially allows subscribers to 'mix and match' many of their coverage options to create a plan that is better suited to their needs then some of the standard offerings might be. As is the case for all medical plans under the law certain minimum coverages are met by all the plans on offer.
Comparing the plans and coverages at the company's website is fairly straightforward although you will have to 'dig' a little to make sure that you have read - and taken in - exactly what is and isn't covered by each option. However that should always be the case for any medical aid plan you are considering enrolling in or switching to, otherwise speak to a Medical Aid Consultant click here for a call back request
Momentum Special Programmes
The focus of many medical aid schemes at the moment is, quite rightly, on rewarding healthy behaviors and practices on the part of their subscribers and Momentum is no different.
Momentum's flagship wellness initiative is the Multiply programme and it is one of the most extensive of such offerings out there. In addition to awarding discounts on gym memberships and even in home fitness equipment the company hosts a number of events and classes that, when subscribers participate, they are rewarded with additional discounts and special offers.
Momentum also offer those adult females interested the chance to participate in 'Adventure Boot Camps', four week courses that offer all kinds of health and wellness activities and classes and earn participants additional Multiply 'points'. There are also sports programmes for males and even 'fitness challenges' for children staged at regular intervals.
The company have also partnered with the FitTrack company and provides free online access to customizable fitness routines (including video lessons and demonstrations) developed by personal trainers and tools to track progress as you work your way through the exercises. For those who prefer, or need, a gentler exercise regimen the company will provide a free pedometer that can also be used to earn Multiply points.
As so many of us prefer to manage as many things as possible online these days rather than dealing with extensive physical paperwork Momentum offer a full online interface that allows subscribers to submit and track claims as well as to manage their accounts on a day to day basis. There are also apps for both iOS and Android devices available for free download that offer many of these functionalities.
